After all, this man will most likely outsource her job to China. The last thing she would expect is a case of mistaken identity, leading to false accusations of kidnapping when she attempts to pick up the wrong man at the airport, or worse…that she would have such a visceral reaction to the right man. Rick Randy is super sexy, scandalously flirty, and perfect masturbation material, but a relationship is out of the question. Rick is contracted on a temporary basis to fix Marley's ailing company, and then pull out, although as he expresses to Marley, pulling out is difficult for him, in more ways than one! Marley's feelings range from utter confusion to intense contemplation as Rick charms his way into her life. All of those C-words Marley can control, but it's the other C-word she fears—commitment.

About the Author
MK Schiller is a hopeless romantic in a hopelessly pragmatic world. By day, she dons a magic cape, calculator (sometimes an abacus), and an assortment of gel pens for her work in the world of finance. But by night, she sits by the warm glow of her computer monitor, and conjures up handsome heart-warming heroes and the vivacious heroines they love. A wife and mother of two loveable, but angst-ridden teenagers, she enjoys movies, gardening, and travelling. Although she loves to write, she is a reader first and enjoys nothing more than curling up with a good book and some tasty Italian (the food, of course!). She hopes you will enjoy her stories and write to her.

Highly Enjoyable Read
By Peach
I really enjoyed “The Do-Over” and decided to try another book from MK Schiller. Again she did not disappoint and I loved this book as well. The story was basically about damaged Marley who did not do relationship. However, she and Rick, a consultant brought to reengineer the company she worked in, shared a strong physical attraction. Initial flirtations led to a friends with benefits relationship. Rick was very protective of Marley and wanted more out of the relationship which she pushed back. The book was funny and yet had its serious moments plus Marley’s unusual family supplemented wonderfully to the story.

He's a Magic Man....
By Ann
This bk has one adorable Hero, Rick, and is filled with sexual tension, it's flirty fun early on, there's hot sex scenes and plenty of romantic drama because of the h/Marley's fear of commitment due to her trauma from the past. Two people you know are going to fall in love but the story takes its time in the telling. That Rick though....what a keeper and definitely book boyfriend worthy. Rick's a classy alpha...very possessive from the get go, even before he and Marley became an item (jaw clenching over guys numbers in her phone). He's bossy, protective, did I mention possessive? sexy hot, sexual innuendo smirking, romantic, gentlemanly, sweet and all kinds of wonderful. (Yea, I'm gushing) And he supposedly looks like Chris Pine!

What bothered me? I don't like it when it takes one of the characters f-o-r-e-v-a to come clean with their dilemma. Marley sort of got on my nerves when she was pushing Rick away (due to fear) and made me impatient when I wanted her to just tell Rick her problem and move forward with it. But, yes, yes, (forehead smack) I know...that's part of the story. The build up to the "reveal" of the problem, of course, leads to some angst. The angst is not over the top though (I hate angst...love the drama, but my impatience and angst? Uh uh...they don't mix well).

Loved Marley's funky family....they're all named after someone musical. But Marley's gay OCD friend Dillon was endearing. Adam, Marley's soon to be brother-in-law is loveably cool. And just wait until you get to Adam's wedding vows to Marley's sister Stevie. To die for! (Be ready to swoon, ladies). It's a shame the author didn't write Adam/Stevie's bk first. There was just enough of these two characters to make you feel like they were worth reading more of (you'll see).

Overall a cute story with a wonderful Hero but wished the HEA hadn't been so rushed. It would have been more enjoyable for me to have had Rick/Marley's HEA drawn out longer with more dialog. Will be looking forward to what this author does next.

Japanese Cinema Encyclopedia: The Horror, Fantasy, and Sci Fi Films, by Thomas Weisser, Yuko Mihara Weisser

Those familiar with the author's previous forays into the world of Hong Kong Cinema and Spaghetti Westerns will know pretty much what to expect here, and it falls far short of any dictionary definition of "essential". Short, cursory capsule reviews, short on insight, style and cultural context and high on typographical and factual errors, accompanied by an arbitrary star rating from one to four. The main virtue of Weisser's self-published book is its rigorously completist approach. Even though it states that it is not the aim to include every single film from Japan ever released, with separate editions available for a more complete look at Horror, Science Fiction and Fantasy, and Sex Films, and one planned for animation ("pleae check our subsiquent books" [sic], Weisser writes in the intro for the fourth edition), this initial volume certainly covers a lot of films and does give quite a good indication as to how much is actually out there.

good concept, but book too loaded with errors!
By A Customer
This would have been a very interesting book but there are simply too many factual and typographical errors to recommend it. As far as I'm concerned, the book's only redeeming value is in the cross-listings given in each entry, which allow basic navigation through this genre for those who are new to it.

A great work of fiction!
By Sheckie Green
Did Thomas Weisser actually watch any of these movies before writing about them? I find that hard to believe as I've managed to track down a lot of these films, only to find them completely different than his reviews. Weisser's never had much credibility - this just continues to add to his legend.

Japanese Cinema Encyclopedia: A Biased Book For Biased People
By Greg Arden
This book is a very informative, interesting book. It's all about Japanese horror cinema, as well as Japanese art films, and Japanese Cyberpunk. It's a very thorough collection, that contains a forward by Oliver Stone ("World Trade Center").

My only complaint is that the author, Thomas Weisser, is totally biased. To Weisser, no film can be flawed, as long as it's Japanese. But, as a film critic, that is a cinematically-fatal mistake. Many of the dozens of reviews in this book are totally wrong. I mean, do any of the films in the "Guinea Pig" series deserve any more that 1 star out of 5? And is "All Night Long 3: The Final Atrocity" really better than the first two films? Or is it worse? Much, much worse?

If you are one of the many people who are absolutely convinced that Japanese filmmakers can do no wrong, and that no Japanese film in the history of that nation has ever sucked, than this is the perfect book you! But, if you're are realistic about Japanese cinema, than I can only semi-recommend it.

The Famous Flapjack Twins
By Lena M. Irish
26A by Diana Evans introduces readers to the lives of identical twin sisters. Bessi and Georgie are intricately connected from even before the womb, as the author so uniquely illustrates. The story is set in England, in a suburb of London called Neasden, their address being 26 Waifer Avenue (the "A" signifying the attic where the twins reside). Bessi and Georgie are bi-racial and live with their mother, Ida, who fled from Lagos, Nigeria to avoid an arranged marriage; their father, Aubrey, who is English and a successful businessman who met their mother while in Nigeria on an extended business trip; their older sister, Isabel (Bel) and their younger sister, Kemy. All of the sisters are extremely close and very protective of each other. However, their older and younger sisters make special effort to protect the bond of the twins. Their space is respected and no one enters their world without permission. The sisters are an extreme comfort and support to each other as they deal with their parents impending "divorce" and cope with their father's frequent bouts of anger, as they often refer to him as Dr. Jekyll or Mr Hyde, depending on his behavior that day.

What resonated most about 26A was the way in which the author described the relationship between Bessi and Georgie. Evans literally blew me away with how she described a relationship that I, as an identical twin, could never begin to put into words myself - and probably never would, because some of the things shared seemed as natural as breathing. For example, Bessi and Georgie "share" dreams. Georgie visits a character in her dreams named Gladstone that she talks to Bessi about all the time, as if he is a real part of their family. Another example is how they feel each other's discomfort or pain. Evans described a scene so vividly in which one of the twins was being harmed and the other felt her pain.

Bessi and Georgie do not make any moves without consulting the other - their twin's consideration is always put first and it has to be because they were partners before their lives began! From being business partners in their flapjack-making endeavor, The Famous Flapjack Twins, to lifetime partners. Their dependency on one another is likened to the way your left foot is dependent on your right. One cannot go further until the other one goes first and if one breaks, well, the other one will carry all the weight until her partner recovers.

This is a love story of sorts which describes the bond between two soul mates that would do anything to protect the private world in which they live. They protect this world by keeping it peaceful, safe, happy, and young. First and foremost, I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a twin or a sibling of twins, for you will gain much more appreciation for your/their relationship, or anyone that is fascinated with the unique relationship of twins or of sisters coming of age. The cultural references were also enlightening and very interesting to read about as well. Overall, you will not be disappointed!

Beautiful and poetic
By Lola. M
In this magnificent debut, Diana Evans captures the magic and complexity of childhood with such honesty and candor it will take you right back to your own memories. To quote an excerpt:

"On the outside of their front door Georgia and Bessi had written in chalk '26a', and on the inside 'G + B', at eye level, just above the handle. This was the extra dimension. The one after sight, sound, smell, touch and taste where the world multiplied and exploded because it was the sum of two people. Bright was twice as bright. All the colours were extra. Girls with umbrellas skipped across the wallpaper and Georgia and Bessi could hear them laughing."

Georgia and Bessi are identical twins growing up in Neasden, London. Their mother is a Nigerian immigrant who pines after her homeland and converses with 'spirits' while their father, an English accountant, drowns his sorrows in the bottle. Despite these difficulties, Georgia and Bessi grow up as confident and imaginative girls, escaping in their own world of fantasy and possibility.

What makes this novel so successful is the ultra-delicious writing, sprinkled with unusual linguistic devices and elements of 'magical realism'. Add to that animated, well-crafted characters and a story line that is hard to put down!

Part hilarious, part endearing, part sobering, 26a is a moving ode to childhood, the pains of growing up and the magic of 'twinhood'.

The darker side of twins
By sara
This started interestingly enough...twins that seemed joined from a past life. But it quickly derailed into non-stop depressing, life-altering tragedies. It WAS well written, despite the authors intentional use of poor grammar (the character's London and Nigerian accents). But the ending was meaningless and a true disappointment for this reader who stuck it out, only to be disappointed. I was hoping for another Audrey Niffenegger"s "Her Fearful Symmetry", but I got a Thomas Hardy remake instead.

Very engrossing!
By Robert C. Babcock
In my college career I've found most of the books I've used to be tedious and unengaging. This was a pleasant exception. The authors actually made a fairly dry subject very lively and interesting. I normally sell of my texts after the class is done but I'm going to hang on to this one. Well done!

By Matt Twin
Recieved the book I had intented. The shipping took a lot alonger than expected since I had purchased expedited, but it took nearly 10 days for me to receive the book. The seller kept me updated with transaction which was nice. But in the end I had recieved the book I wanted.

Easy to read/use
By Melissa D.
I got this for a basic consumer economics class, easy to read and use and I'm not really that into the subject...was able to resell for a decent price when done.
